In July 2009, my friend Cheri Leach, founder of Raven Hill Discovery Center‍ ‍obtained a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, and commissioned me to build the Earth Tones Music Garden. This was where I built my first musical sculptures, including in order of appearance, an amadinda (or xylophone), an End Struck Plosive Aerophone (or slap tubes), a lithophone, a friction harp, and a long string instrument.
