Junkyard Music Box

The Junkyard Music Box was an entry at the 2012 Grand Rapids ArtPrize, September . 19th - Oct. 7th. It was a human-powered, automated, musical sculpture made of recycled materials. Visitors were able to turn a crank, which rotated an underground storage tank. The piece also included instruments made from: granite counter-top, open-end wrenches, brake drums, and rotors. There were also several hands-on home-made instruments for children to play. The project was designed to promote Early Childhood Music Education,, and to show that every child can and should have an instrument.
